Don't
Judge Me Yet!
by Brian Mullins
Let's begin by looking at a few verses of scripture found in Romans
chapter eight beginning in verse eighteen: "For I consider that the
sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the
glory which shall be revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the
creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God" (NKJV).
This scripture is often used to talk about Heaven and the glorious
eternity that awaits the children of God; however, I do not believe it is
referring to the after life. I believe that Paul is referring to the glory
of God that will be revealed in us here on the earth before the church is
caught away to go be with the Lord.
I truly believe that God has an awesome plan for every one of His
children, here on the earth. He brought us out of darkness and into His
marvelous light not to leave us in our average, ordinary life but to take
us into a life that is more abundant.
The Bible says that the things that happened in the Old Testament are
types and shadows of things in the New Testament. When God brought His
people out from under the bondage of the Egyptian pharaoh, He didn't just
want to get them out of Egypt, He also wanted to take them into the land
of Canaan.
The Bible calls Canaan "the land of more than enough." I want
you to know that God has an awesome plan for your life.
This brings me now to my subject matter, "Don't Judge Me Yet!"
Like we just read in Romans 8:18, there are things that we go through,
many of them unpleasant, on the way to where we are going but Paul said
that no matter what you are going through now, it isn't even worthy to
compare it with the great things that God has ahead of you.
Many times other people want to come along and give their evaluation of
our lives when we are going through a season of drought. I have an answer
for those people, Don't Judge Me Yet!
As I am on the journey to discovering the great things that God has in
store for me, it has helped me numerous times to remember the lives of
Abraham and Joseph. I wonder how many times during the forty-year period
between the promise to Abram and the birth of Isaac did people ridicule
him and think that he was crazy for believing that God was going to give
him and Sarah children.
I also wonder how many people forgot about Joseph after he had been gone
for a few years. I'm sure that his family and friends had written him off,
so to speak. Even though he was sold as a slave and later wrongfully
imprisoned, he still had a word from the Lord over his life.
It really doesn't matter what your present circumstances look like as long
as you have a word from God concerning your future.
Other people are not always going to be able to see the plan of God for
your life and many times if they can see the plan of God for you, it makes
them jealous. This is precisely what happened to Joseph. His brothers
didn't do what they did because they thought Joseph was lying but because
they were fearful and jealous of God's plan for their little brother.
Have you ever let the opinions of other people about your life become more
dominant in your mind than the opinions of God concerning you? If you
have, I encourage you to begin to change that right now by first of all
repenting and asking God to forgive you for allowing what others think and
say to become more important that what He thinks and says.
We as Christians have to learn to walk by faith and not by sight. God may
speak to someone today and say "I am going to make you very wealthy
and use you to flow money into my work in the earth" and tomorrow
they may be standing in the unemployment line or in the food stamp line.
Never judge, nor allow any one else to judge, your future by your present.
You may have been in a terrible situation for twenty-five years, but it
doesn't have to stay that way forever. Never give up on your dreams and
the visions that God has put in your heart.
On the way to our personal "promised land" we will encounter
many battles and have multiple opportunities to give up or begin to doubt
that we ever heard God to begin with - but you must remain focused.
I have seen so many Christian's make devastatingly wrong turns during
seasons of intense warfare. During these times I encourage you to begin to
draw near to your spiritual leaders and other mature saints that you know
can hear from God and those that have your best interests at heart.
Don't let Satan steal your destiny away from you by tricking you to go
another way. Remember, the sufferings of this present time are not worthy
to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in you.
So when the devil sends doubters across your path to inject you with
discouragement about your future just say "Don't Judge Me
Yet!" |
